Every year, the cost of operation at Scranton Prep increases significantly. In order to maintain affordable tuition costs, we rely heavily on funds from our Annual Appeal. Over the past several years, we have noticed that the contribution levels – in terms of dollar amount and participation rate – have reached a plateau. This has happened, in part, because of the fact that we are not able to contact as many people as we would like due to incorrect addresses and phone numbers.
By serving as a class agent, you would not only be helping the Development Office to keep our records updated, but by reaching out and helping to raise dollars for Scranton Prep, you would be helping to keep the cost of a Prep education affordable. Currently, the cost of educating a student at Prep is $11,120 and our tuition is $9,200. Our goal in Development is to expand this gap, because that would mean that we are raising enough money to keep the tuition costs far below the actual cost of education.
A class ambassador’s job:
- List 25 classmates whom you would feel comfortable contacting.
- Contact classmates on his/her list at least three times per year.
- These contacts should be informative about the happenings at Prep, and they should also seek to solicit contributions to the Annual Appeal every year.
- Should try to collect as much up-to-date information on their list of contacts as possible (email address, cell #, home #, work #, physical addresses, and personal updates).
- Should remain in contact with the Alumni Director at Scranton Prep.
Ways to make this easy:
- Agents will receive as much contact information for the members on their lists as possible from Scranton Prep.
- We have many email addresses that will make contacting easy. Mass emails are a very simple way to perform your task.
- Because you are from a more recent class at Scranton Prep, many of your fellow classmates are connected to social networking sites such as facebook.com. Setting up a facebook group is an easy way to communicate with your classmates.
